Middle School Boys Win 2

Missoula Elite’s first middle school games were a success this week as we walked away with two wins and a whole lot of fun.
The team started to arrive at the field around 10 AM, but the weather was already there. The gray clouds would stay with us all day, but never decided to rain. As we got closer to game time, we still did not have a goalie. Thank you to Stellen for stepping up and doing a great job in net. With Stellen in net and not one sub on the bench we took the field against the full rostered Flathead Lacrosse team. The game started out even, but the Elite started to pull away and make it a 3-1 game. After the half, Flathead came out firing and scored two goals to tie it up. Flathead scored once more to take the lead at the beginning of the 4th quarter. The Elite would then tie the game up on a wacky play that would bounce off two different sticks and in. With just over a minute left in the game, the Elite would execute a picture perfect clear which resulted in a fast-break and the game winning goal.
After the game the boys enjoyed the down time with some hot dogs and hamburgers. During the break, Missoula temporarily picked up 4 players from Sandpoint, ID, including a goalie.
Now with subs on the bench, a win in the books, and an experienced goalie in net, the Elite took the field with even more confidence. The game started out with two quick goals by Flathead that seemed worrisome at first. Missoula struck back soon after and would not let up for the rest of the game. The final score was 12-4 with Missoula getting its 2nd win on the day.
Thanks to all the parents who came down and helped out this weekend, it was a blast. We hope to keep this win streak alive with two more games in Sandpoint next week!

Thanks for a great day of lacrosse, Coach Mac! I’d have to say that was the most fun I’ve had watching my kids play sports. We’re looking forward to Sandpoint.
