Friday
So today started off with an early wake up of 4:45 am, we quickly gathered all of our stuff and made sure we had everything that we needed for the trip. Both Joel and I stayed at Rian’s house because we thought it would be easier to just stay there than get rides over to his house or to Starbucks that early In the morning. We left Rian’s house around 5:30 am to get over to Starbuck’s to meet all of the other people who are going to Spokane. We headed out of Missoula around 6:10 all that I did for the whole way to Spokane is slept. I had to sit in the middle seat in the back of a truck so I got the bad seat but at least I got a big pillow (Rian). We got to Spokane around 8:30 our scheduled flight was at 10:30 and headed to Seattle but we instead got an earlier flight at 9:30 so we could have more time to get some lunch in Seattle. While we were waiting in Spokane we got this odd look from these two guys and pretty much all of us knew that they were the kids from Spokane. Later in Seattle we got lunch at BK and sat around for about an hour till we finally decided that we would go ask if the players we thought were from Spokane (or Gonzaga Prep) if they really were from Spokane and playing with us… we came to find it yes, they were. They seem like good guys and great story we played them my first year of lacrosse, and they brought it up when we went to say Hi to them. Another great story is that all of us just happened to forget the score of that game, We ended up losing by a large amount. So now we are in the air about to land in San Diego. Got to turn off the computer more later…
now we have arrived in San Diego the first thing we did off of the plane was grab our bags and change into our shorts and went outside. The temperature was 74 when we were out there. We took a somewhat short ride to our motel, and met all of the other players.
We went to the University of San Diego and happened to just miss the San Diego coach who was going to give us a tour. Instead Coach Flynn gave us a tour and we somewhat got lost and happened to run into the San Diego coach. We asked him some basic questions about the team and what the school does. We then had to find our way back to the car which seemed to be one of the hard things of the day for Kevin. We then got in the cars and went to eat, we ate at a buffet that was salad anything and very good ice cream. During dinner Kevin talked about a book that he is reading about a tribe in Mexico that all they do is pretty much run… we sparked a lot of conversations from him talking about the book and had a great time at dinner.
We got to the motel and were all very tired. But at dinner Luke and I got talking about facing off and he wanted to show me some things that I could do for face offs which seemed to be very helpful and we will have to see how much it will help tomorrow. We had to be in bed or at least in our room by 10:30 so we are setting up zombie land now and going to watch that and probably fall asleep pretty fast.
More about games tomorrow.
Saturday
Today started off with an early wake up at 5:45 we took a quick shower got a crappy breakfast from the hotel and met the team downstairs. We quickly got to the cars and headed over to the fields around 7. We got to the fields did a short throw around and got ready for our first game. We were all very skeptical about how we would do in the tourney for we have not played together ever, well at least some of us have played together, but the team as a whole has never. So the first game started with us scoring 3 goals. Rian Tuttle had an amazing first half and kept the other team at 0. Shortly after half time we got back on the field and they scored a couple goals and we scored one their team started to rally and kept scoring. We were down 4 to 6 with around 2 minutes left in the game. We ended up scoring one goal before the game ended and losing by 1 point. We were all very surprised on how we did for the first game rightfully we could of won that game easily and just could not get ourselves together to actually do it.
The second game started off with a fast break and a goal for the other team, which quickly stated that they were good. Most of us forgot most of that game because the players and coaches both did not have very good sportsmanship and just kept beating up on us. The team we played was two high schools varsity teams from San Diego, they get to play year round with each other, while everybody on our team has snow in their home towns. We went and walked around after the second game and got something to eat and drink and went back to where we met at first and sat around in the sun. Rian and I both sat out and tried to get as much sun as possible.
We then had game 3 which ended up being again a pretty bad loss, Though this game was a lot more fun. After game 3 a couple of us went to a shooting clinic, in which I learned a lot of useful things about shooting. Throughout this whole thing I was nearly asleep just walking around because I was so tired from the past 3 games. We then got back to the motel and got pizzas and sat around will be probably heading to bed soon. More later…
Woke up Sunday around 7 15 today to get ready four our first game around 9. We had again today a two pastries limit breakfast or some left over pizza from last night. We got to the fields and tried to warm up but all of us were super sore so it took a long time to get actually warmed up. We then had our first game of the day which was a pretty fun game and we played very good, we still lost though. At the end of that game we sat around and ate pb and J sandwiches and waited for our final game which we were hoping was going to be a W. we then started the final game we all knew that this was our time to play, and guess what it was. The last game was by far the most fun game the sad part is we won in regulation time but lost in the time that the ref had. We went at least 5 minutes over the time that we should of giving the other team more time to tie us.
After the game we took a mile long walk to the beach, which was pretty much awesome. We all ran into the water, which turned out to really be cold but it was really fun. We picked up Kevin and tried to throw him in the ocean but he freaked out on his cuz he had his phone and camera on him, so we didn’t get him in the water. We stayed there for a while and then headed back to watch the championship game. The championship game ended fast and we went back to the hotel. We got to the hotel took a quick shower and had some guys go to In- n- out Burger and get burgers. Rian Tuttle and me were the only people that got the 4 by 4 burger four patty’s so ya biggest kid and smallest kid were the ones that ate the most. So now we are here now I think we are headed out to 7 11 to get slurpies then go get in the hot tub because all of us are very sore. We will be heading home around noon tomorrow.
See you all tomorrow
